What is this?

What is this?
This is a communicative space that will develop and morph into one thing or nothing specific, by way of my life's experiences in mental and physical health and cooking.

About me.
My name is Mercer Barrows III. I’m a high school physics teacher in San Diego, CA. When I was in high school, I became very aware of my weight. I’m 34 years old now, and on 05/11/2019, I made my first real commitment to change my weight by eating at a caloric deficit, paired with no major changes to my physical activity. Then, I weighed my maximum weight of 246 pounds. As of 11/02/2019, I weigh about 214 pounds, and I have a goal weight of 210 pounds by 12/25/2019. The pictures shown are a year apart, the lower is more recent. My experience is riddled with struggling with my weight, struggling with my confidence, unnecessary injuries (induced by being technically obese on the BMI scale), and eventually achieving healthy weight loss. I have done lots of my own research about diet, exercise, and personal growth (i.e. completed the Landmark Forum, Advanced Course, and SELP). By sharing about me and my experiences, I want to add value to those who experience similar things (or anyone really), and to build a community of real happiness → positive mental health, and positive body image (no fat shaming, no skinny shaming). Along with the posts, I will be sharing mental health tips, food choice tips, recipes with calories, cooking tips, meal prep ideas, and exercise ideas that I’ve used to lose weight.  I hope this adds value to your life!

Note.
I’m going to preface this entire blog and all posts with this: it’s all my opinion, do not take my advice (for liability purposes), and I may use language that might come across as offensive or vulgar, but it's just me being authentic and no offense is meant. I am not a nutritionist, I am not a dietitian, I am not a personal trainer, I am not a mental health expert, nor am I anything that fits into any of those types of categories. I am not a medical professional, if you do take my advice, make sure to check with your doctor about those decisions first.
